House washing

We’ve been meaning to get on to starting our house washing blog, an interesting subject for some, maybe not for others. Soft washing and external house cleaning is what we do, so forgive us for being consumed by it. We hope to use the blog here on our house washing website to post photos before and after jobs, difficult cleaning jobs and anything else we find interesting in our day to day at Spark Exterior Cleaning. If you’ve been to our website you’ll already have read and know the benefits of soft washing over pressure cleaning when it comes to weatherboards, render and other surfaces, but we may as well give a run down here.

Pressure cleaning is necessary for many types of cleaning, such as driveways, pavers, brick work and so on, but it can be far too damaging for your home. Eaves and painted timber in particular don’t like high pressure cleaning, a mistake many people have made with even a small domestic machine. Soft washing uses custom made detergents to do the hard work of cleaning as well as killing mould. We are conscious of the impact our detergents may have on the environment, which is why we keep them simple. No off the shelf products with unknowns. For most applications we use a mix that contains a single surfactant, commonly found in ecostore brand of products. It’s derived from plants and a small portion synthetic. It’s fully biodegradable and safe for septic and grey water systems. It’s even found in many hair shampoo products. Anyway, we’ve spent quite a bit of time discussing our product with environmental bloggers and it’s not our aim to use harmful chemicals in our everyday work.

We love a result and love seeing the transformation from mouldy walls to like new every day.
